Portal 2 Level Editor – Faith Plates & Lasers

This was developed as a part of my portfolio for Sheridan College’s Game Design program.
I studied levels found both in the Portal 2 main campaign and user-generated levels. I found that the levels found in Portal 2’s main campaign always felt much more focused than the ones made by users, and I determined that this was due to the main campaign’s levels always choosing a limited number of mechanics that the level is focused around.
I hoped to emulate this tight experience that the Portal 2 campaign offers, so I decided to focus on only 2 major mechanics: Lasers and Aerial Faith Plates. This allows the level to feel cohesive, and also prevents it from being too long.
